Combined Thermal Storage Tank Solarmax 1950 Litres – Instant DHW Production – SM2X02000F
The Solarmax SM2X02000F is a combined thermal storage tank with a capacity of 1950 litres, designed by TML Industrie Loddo for instant domestic hot water (DHW) production via a high-efficiency corrugated stainless steel AISI 316L heat exchanger, combined with heating water storage in a carbon steel buffer. The system is configured with 2 primary heat exchangers: lower finned copper 5.0 m² + upper FE spiral 3.8 m². The patented thermal flow director uses natural convective motion: the finned copper solar coil heats the fluid at the bottom of the tank, which is channelled upward to meet the corrugated DHW heat exchanger, transferring heat in an orderly, continuous cycle. This allows immediate use of initial solar energy gains without waiting for full tank stratification.

Instant DHW Production – Corrugated AISI 316L Heat Exchanger
Unlike "tank in tank" systems, the Solarmax produces DHW instantaneously: mains water flows through the corrugated AISI 316L heat exchanger in contact with the hot buffer water and is heated without intermediate storage. The corrugated tube geometry maximises turbulence and exchange surface, delivering high thermal outputs: up to 141.1 kW at 65°C primary. The system requires no internal DHW storage and guarantees high hygiene standards through on-demand production with no water stagnation.
Multi-Energy Compatibility and Applications
The SM2X02000F is compatible with multiple heat sources: solar thermal collectors (lower heat exchanger in finned copper), biomass boiler (dedicated connections), backup boiler and heat generator at high or low temperature. The large 1950-litre capacity ensures adequate thermal storage for large residential buildings, villas and commercial premises. Buffer fluid must operate in a closed loop (oxygen-free).
